Sabrina Mayhew is an Oncology Nurse Navigator at Cancer Support Community, a national non-profit cancer support organization. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2011 and soon after became actively involved as an advocate.
My Story
She is the Vice President of the Michigan Breast Cancer Coalition (MiBCC). She has been a member of the University of Michigan Breast Cancer Advocacy and Advisory Board and was a patient advocate for the Integrative Oncology Scholars Program. She founded a nonprofit organization called the Angel Pillow project which has been very active in the last 10 years to provide women with comfort and healing after surgery. She has worked in the planning of several breast cancer symposiums and fundraisers and has been an invited speaker for breast cancer awareness. Sabrina is involved with many local and national breast cancer organizations including Sister's Hope, The Pink Fund, YSC, Komen Advocates in Science, NBCC, Gilda's Club, and Sister's Network. Sabrina is currently a Ph.D.Candidate at Wayne State University College of Nursing with research interests in African American breast cancer survivor advocates.
