I was diagnosed at the age of 39 with Hormone Positive Her-2 Negative Stage 2 A Breast Cancer. After a Double Mastectomy with Reconstruction, Chemotherapy and continuing Clinical Trials for a Year, I had an epiphany: I am not the only one who has the feeling/fears-I decided to find my new calling.
My Story
I am an almost 50-Year-old 10 Year Breast Cancer Survivor. I am married to a Retiree from the US Air Force (almost 24 Years Married) and have 2 children, ages 19(currently at UT Austin) and 21(Senior at University of Delaware)

After moving back to my home state of DE in 2018, I was hired by the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.
4 Years later, I have been through Project Lead with NBCC, as well as Project Lead Refresh, and Project Lead Public Policy. With these courses and the guidance of many fellow Survivors already Advocating, I found my voice. I have led the Advocacy in Delaware and became the Legislative Liaison in the State of DE for our Agency. We have regularly supported NBCC, and we successfully were able to Convince US Senator Tom Carper, D-DE to become a sponsor of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act. Iam a member of the State Institutional Review Board, a Peer Reviewer for the DOD-BCRP, as well as a full-time advocate for those in DE who are afflicted with this terrible disease. One of the strong women who supported me after my diagnosis told me she believed I would see a cure for Breast Cancer in my lifetime. I'm determined to make that a reality.
